Third Sector Communications Conference (#TSComms)

Yesterday we spent the day at the Third Sector Communications Conference. It was a chance for charities and other third sector organisations to learn a bit more about communicating their messages using modern web 2.0 and social media platforms – like ipadio! Here’s David at our stand trying to look important and serious:

There were a number of interesting talks – the best quotes of which were tweeted out instantly. My favourite one was Chris Ward from Comic Relief telling us of a child who said to a parent “You had computers before the Internet, what was the point?”

What was pretty cool too was that there was some live polling going on throughout the day asking the delegates to vote on questions about their organisations, with the results instantly available, giving some interesting data. For example, apparently 23% of charities there never use celebrities in comms strategies, 54% sometimes, and 67% think celebrity endorsement are valuable most of the time.

So did you go? What did you think? How can charities using social media and ipadio to campaign more effectively? Let us know in the comments!
