Melcrum Strategic Communications Management Conference

As I write this blog I’m looking out on Tower Bridge from the conference room of the hotel where the Melcrum Strategic Communications Management Conference is being held. It beats the usual view out of my window of the dustbin lorry and my neighbour mowing their lawn.

Tower Bridge

Four of us at ipadio have been at the conference for ‘Internal Communications’ professionals and over the course of the last two days have met some great people and heard some interesting talks. Yesterday morning, for example, we heard from Viviane Huybrecht about how the collapse in the banking system had affected her business, and from Network Rail about how they communicate safety messages to staff – and they showed us a harrowing safety film to illustrate it too.

Of course, the reason we’re here is because ipadio’s core technology – being able to broadcast from and to phones using just a phone line has many applications for companies wanting to better communicate and engage with employees. If you want to learn more about this sort of thing we’ve got a whole section of the site dedicated to it.

We’ve also been promoting ipadio in a fun way – yesterday we got hundreds of branded whoopee cushions (with the slogan “make yourself heard with ipadio”) and set them down on delegates’ seats before they arrived – needless to say that we’re hoping it makes us memorable!

    Dear iPadio,

Thanks for supporting the SCM Summit this year with all your interviews and live phone broadcasts during the coffee breaks! Hope to see you at the next one in February.

    All the best.

    Robin.

PS My six-year old son is making good use of that whoopee cushion ;-)
