Shadow Justice Secretary Dominic Grieve talks to the people of Leicester

Last night the UK’s Shadow Justice Secretary, Dominic Grieve MP, visited a meeting in Leicester to speak to local people and answer their questions. What’s cool is that the organisers had the foresight to phonecast the entire meeting – allowing those who could not make it in person to listen in live, or even download it afterwards. This meant that whilst the number of people attending the meeting was limited by the size of the venue, the number of people available to actually listen to Mr Grieve speak was essentially limitless!

Whilst the meeting was going on, top Conservative blogger Iain Dale tweeted a link to listen too – enabling the thousands of politicos that follow him to virtually join the meeting.

What I think is most impressive is how it was achieve technically – there was no fancy computers, no satellite trucks parked outside – just an iPhone with a lapel microphone plugged in, making an ordinary phone call! I hope we see more political meetings broadcast like this in the future!
